SACRAMENTS
The celebrations for each Sacrament are planned by a team including the
Parish Priest, Pastoral Associate and the Principals and Religious
Education Coordinator’s from St Francis Xavier and St Augustine’s schools. A planned, sequential program is used to teach the Sacraments from
Prep to Year 6. The “To Know, Worship and Love” (prescribed texts) are
the key resources used to teach the sacraments. In addition we use
an extensive range of additional resources particularly housed in our
RE Resource Centre.
Encouragement is given to families to assume responsibility for their children’s growth in faith, particularly in relation to the sacramental development of their child.
The Sacraments are celebrated in this order:
- the Sacrament of Penance will be celebrated in Year 3
- the Sacrament of Eucharist in Year 3 and
- the Sacrament of Confirmation Year 6
For each Sacrament there is a Parent and Child Information and Workshop Night. Those celebrating the Sacraments and their parents / guardians are invited to attend this night in order to take part in specially designed activities to enrich their understanding of the nature and purpose of the Sacrament and a sacramental life.
